Frequently asked questions

Q: I was interested in attending your church. But I'm a bit nervous. Is there anything I can do.

A: Yes! Lots! First, we make every effort to make newcomers and visitors very welcome. At each service ‘door stewards’ welcome everyone on arrival, so if you let them know you are new they will make a special effort – to greet you, to show you any facilities you may need, and to sit you with someone who can explain what’s going on (if you would like). Of course, if you would rather enter ‘anonymously’ feel free to do so.

Second, try starting with the type of service that you think may best fit your needs. The different types of services are designed to enable everyone to worship regularly in a style that they prefer, and at a time suitable for them. Please see Services for information about the different forms of worship available.

Q: Can I have my infant baptised at your church?

I would prefer a Dedication for my child to Baptism. Is this possible?

Can I have an adult baptism at your church?

A: Christian Baptism is offered to infants and adults, but the dedication of infants is also offered if preferred. These take place within the context of worship as the congregation promise to provide suitable opportunities for children and adults to be nurtured in the Christian Faith. From earliest age children are welcome in worship, with Crèche and Junior Church Sunday mornings. For details, contact the minister.

During the week facilities like the Parents & Toddlers Group is provided. For adults, apart from Sunday worship, midweek fellowship and discussion groups are provided.

Q: Can I get married at the church?

A: Weddings take place through prior arrangement with the minister. The minister will explore with you, through a series of meetings, what marriage is about and will prepare you for the wedding service.

Q: Can I hold a funeral at the church?

A: A Christian service of Thanksgiving and Tribute can be arranged either directly with the minister or through a Funeral Director.

Q: I’m interested in one of the activities, how could I find out more or enquire about joining?

A: All of the groups associated with the church welcome enquiries from potential new members and visitors. Some of the groups need to limit membership by age, by gender, by having a maximum group size or by requiring a level of proficiency in their subject (e.g. playing an instrument).

Please email, specifying
the name of the Activity you are interested in
the nature of your enquiry (e.g. seeking information, joining, offering help)
a phone number or email where the group leader can reply to you
We will acknowledge your email as soon as possible but it may take some days to fully respond to your enquiry, as some group leaders are hard for us to contact!

Q: I am interested in joining a group, but can’t find quite what I am looking for. Can you help?

A: We will continue to develop opportunities for coming together as a church for Bible study, prayer, relaxation and celebration, investigating new possibilities for faith development courses, retreats etc,

In addition new groups are starting to book our premises as the development work completes and more space becomes available.

Email an enquiry to the church office, specifying what activity you are seeking, a phone number or email where the group leader can reply to you and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Q: Can I hire a room for my own meeting or group activity?

A: The premises may be hired for suitable meetings when available. For information please contact Audrey Harrison who can also supply details on rent and to book the facilities. A range of facilities are available for hire:
